Management Board Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, October 3, 2006
A meeting of the Columbus Avenue
Management Board, held on Tuesday October 3, 2006 in room 301 Bay City Hall, was
called to order by Bill Keipert at 7:03 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made by Dan Hatton, seconded
by Marti Kovacsi, to approve the minutes of September 5, 2006 meeting as
written. Motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENTS AND COMMUNICATIONS
Mary
Witbrodt stated that Wendell Perkins has been in Bay Regional Medical Center for
a few weeks and that he is making a slow recovery. Everyone wished for a full
recovery for Wendell.
Bill
Kiepert stated that he called the City to express his desire to see the former
Czuba building resold to a private entity for redevelopment purposes in order to
keep the property on the tax roll.
NEW
BUSINESS
Columbus Days Celebration- Bill Kiepert informed the group that the City
Commission approved the special event application for the event on October 7th
on Columbus Avenue between Madison and Birney Street. Ron Sobczak stated
that he was able to combine this event with the classic car show and obtain a
lower insurance rate for both events. Mike Brandow stated that he spoke to Tim
Marciniak about Central High School’s Art Department painting vacant store front
windows. Mr. Marciniak stated he could not get the band, the choir or the
cheerleaders involved this year because it falls on homecoming weekend. He
could most likely get everyone involved if it was made a two day event and
combined with Central’s Homecoming activities.
Bill
Kiepert mentioned that he has approached several businesses who have already
donated money or have made commitment to provide raffle items for the Columbus
Day event.
2007-2010 Management Board Plan- Bill Kiepert reviewed the revised plan with
the board members and informed them that the next step is for the Columbus
Avenue Management Board to officially approve the plan by resolution and to
forward it to the City Special Assessment Board of Review for consideration on
October 18th at City Hall.
Motion
made by Dan Hatton motioned, seconded by Dale Johnson, to approve the resolution
to approve the final plan, subject to some minor correction made to the
document. This document is to be forwarded to the Special Assessment Board of
Review for their consideration. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Fence
at Cemetery- Bill Kiepert mentioned that he is still working on the fence
project and that he hopes to obtain funding from MDOT.
REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE
No reports
at this time.
OTHER BUSINESS
Bill
Kiepert urged all board members to stop in and meet with the new members being
brought in to the Management Board District to discuss the merits of the
organization and to also urge them to get involved in all of the activities.

Motion made by Dan Hatton, second
by Dale Johnson to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 pm. Motion carried.
