Sidewalk Replacement Program in final stages

A 15 year plan for sidewalk upgrades and repair is nearing completion following the inspection and evaluation of all sidewalks. Staff is currently assessing the cost of repairs and prioritizing locations based on several factors outlined in the City’s Housing Improvement Strategy. Construction on the sidewalks identified in the plan is expected to begin in June.

Water System Improvements

Water System Improvements are scheduled at three separate intersections on Midland Street at Kiesel, Warner and Chilson streets.

New 8” water main will be installed at each intersection to replace existing 1.5” lead pipe water mains. This project has been identified in our lead abatement program and will improve water quality to residents in this vicinity. To reduce cost and traffic interruptions this project is being coordinated with the traffic detours for the Midland Street / Vermont S-curve pavement project detour (May 1 – June 9).
