How to Read Your Water Meter

There are number wheels on both the meter and ROM. The White number wheels are the whole units; the Black number wheels are the tenths and hundredths units. On the ROM the hundredths place is a stationary zero.
 

 

The read on this meter is 29.42

That is, 29 whole units plus 4 tenths of unit plus 2 hundredths of a unit.
 

 

This ROM reads 29.70

That is 29 whole units plus 7 tenths of a unit.  The hundredths unit is always zero on the ROM.

 

Units:

One unit of water is 100 cubic feet.  100 cubic feet is equal to 748 gallons of water.
